Submission on ParentsNext (Workforce Australia Inquiry)

ERA has made a submission to the House of Representatives Select Committee on Workforce Australia regarding ParentsNext. We’re arguing that the compulsory nature of the program combined with onerous so-called ‘mutual obligations’ puts the ParentsNext program in breach of the right to social security in article 9 of the Convention on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. It’s time to make ParentsNext optional and more focused on positive outcomes for women and their kids.
