Youth Scholarships: Evidence for Equity Conference

True Relationships & Reproductive Health has joined in partnership with Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health to host a 2-day Multicultural Women’s Health Conference in Brisbane on 31 July and 1 August 2017. This national conference will create a platform for practitioners, researchers, policy makers, community developers and consumers to advance migrant and refugee women’s reproductive and sexual health outcomes.

True and MCWH are highly motivated to platform young women’s voices and perspectives at our national conference through three youth scholarships. The scholarships will be offered in conjunction with the Young Women’s Advisory Group (YWAG) of the Equality Rights Alliance. Scholarships will be offered through an application process, whereby applicants will demonstrate their commitment to the migrant and refugee sector through their work, study, interest and/or experiences. Applicants should be aged 18-25 at the time of the conference.

Successful applicants will:

  • Have exposure to the inner workings of a national conference.
  • Be professionally mentored
  • Be invited to contribute to the facilitation one youth workshop during the 2-day conference.
  • Be offered a written reference for future employment or scholarship opportunities.
  • Write a two page report following the conference summarising their experience and offering feedback for future scholarship opportunities.

This scholarship is to cover registration only. Participants will be responsible for all travel (and accommodation) related to the conference event.

Applications will be judged by a panel that will include the young women facilitating those workshops. The three successful applicants will each receive 1x complimentary ticket to the 2-day conference and will be supported by a mentor throughout the two days. Applications close Friday 14 July. The interviews for applicants will be held on the evening of 17 July 2017.
