Helen comes to ERA from the community legal sector, where she spent 10 years as a solicitor specialising in disability discrimination law, tenancy law and social security law. Helen has experience working in both front line legal service provision and law reform advocacy. She also worked on the NSW Law Reform Commission’s report into the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 as a paralegal and represented the National Association of Community Legal Centres in negotiations regarding the drafting of the Disability Rights Convention at the United Nations in Bangkok and New York in 2003.

Romy comes to ERA from a background in sexual and reproductive health and education. She has experience as a sexuality and relationships educator, and working on a range of projects promoting inclusivity, including with people of migrant and refugee backgrounds and LGBTIQAP+ identifying young people in QLD. She is a former member of the ERA’s Young Women’s Advisory Group (YWAG). Romy is also a PhD candidate at the University of Queensland, where her research explores how women are organising around energy and electricity challenges in South Africa. She holds qualifications in International Studies and Community Development.

Liz brings ten years of administrative experience to the ERA team, predominantly from a legal administration background. She has recently returned to ERA after taking a few years to stay at home with her young daughters in country NSW, but remains an active member of her local community. Liz is thrilled to be back at ERA and surrounded by an inspiring, diverse group of women working to improve the lives of all women in Australia.
