Minister for the Status of Women

The Hon Julie Collins MP  (Electoral Division of Franklin, Tasmania) is the new federal Minister for the Status of Women. Minister Collins also hold the Ministery portfolios of community services, indigenous employment and economic development.

Getting Young Women to the UN Commission on the Status of Women in 2012!

Are you under 30 years of age? Would you like to attend the CSW 2012? UN CSW 56 will meet in New York in February 2012 and consider two main themes:

  • Priority Theme: The empowerment of rural women and their role in poverty and hunger eradication, development and current challenges.
  • Review Theme: Financing for gender equality and the empowerment of women (agreed conclusions from CSW 52)

Equality Rights Alliance acknowledges Aboriginal Peoples are Australia's first Peoples and the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which we work for women's equality. As women's advocates we want to make real the goal of gender equality and promote women's rights as human rights. This includes nurturing an environment that respects and values Aboriginal women and peoples, and their cultures and rights.
