Gender Audit of Community Sector Leadership

YWCA Australia, with ACOSS and Women on Boards, have launched a Gender Audit of community sector leadership in Australia. Open until 12 December 2011, the survey will provide an insight into women's leadership in the sector.

Women are well represented within the workforce of charitable and community sector organisations in Australia. The community sector alone employes around 85% women, which is a key factor in the equal pay case for community workers currently before Fair Work Australia. Yet we know very little about the gendered nature of senior management and Board positions within this sector. Specifically, we do not know whether the high numbers of women in the workforce generally are reflected equally across senior positions.

As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day, and as part of our response to the Commonwealth Government's agenda on women's workforce participation, the community sector equal pay case, and the opportunities to put a gender focus on training and other funds, YWCA Australia, the Australian Council of Social Services (ACOSS) and Women on Boards (WOB) have developed a survey to assess gendered representation within senior roles and Boards across the charitable and community sector.

The survey takes around eight minutes to complete and seeks information about diversity within your workforce, within your senior management roles, and within your Board.

We ask you to complete the survey and to circulate among your community sector networks.

The deadline for responses is 12 December 2011.
