Urgent - call for Members to attend Women's Budget Statement

Calling all members!

We are looking for two representatives from Member organisations to attend the launch of the Women's Budget Statement on Tuesday 15 May 2012. The event runs from 10.30am until 11.30am and will be held at the Jessie Street Library in Ultimo, Sydney. The invitation can be downloaded below.

The Office for Women has offered to cover same day travel costs (no accommodation) for two ERA representatives. We need to RSVP by 11 May.

The event is a good opportunity to make contact with other organisations and to hear what the government has to say about the impact of its budget on women. If you participated in ERA's budget workshops over the last 10 months, this is an excellent chance to see another aspect of the budget process in progress.

If you would like to attend, please let Helen, Emma or Katie know on (02) 6230 5152 or email on era.admin@ywca.org.au.

ERA Holiday Message 2011

To Dear ERA members and Friends,

The staff at ERA would like to thank you for all your hard work with us this year, and wish you a peaceful and happy Holiday Season.

2011 has been a huge year for the Alliance, with ERA bringing the experiences of marginalised women to decision-makers, working hard to ensure gender protections in anti-discrimination laws are strengthened, building our profile as a leading advcoate for women’s housing security in affordable housing , and continuing to develop relationships with parliamentarians from all parties.

The profile of ERA is growing, with over 1000 subscribers to our website, following our work. This is a fantastic acheivement, and we thank all of you for your ongoing promotion of our website.

The ERA Young Women’s Advisory Group has a new voice on their Settle Petal website, featuring regular updates and lively discussion on feminist issues. You can see this at www.settlepetal.org.au/. Thanks to Cath Batemen who is doing an amazing job as our Project Coordinator for Settle Petal.

In the ERA secretariat, the office will be closed over Christmas from Friday the 23rd, opening on Tuesday 3rd January 2012 when Emma returns. Katie will return Monday 9th January and Kathy will be back in the office on Tuesday 24th January.

Once again, best wishes, safe travels, congratulations for all your achievements and thank you for being part of Equality Rights Alliance.
